In an effort to bring high cost life saving assets to more tactical teams around the state, the NYTOA developed the Shared Asset Program.
The following armored vehicle assets are available through the shared asset program:
- Lenco Bearcat
- The Armored Group BATT
This is how the program works:
- The NYTOA obtains the shared asset.
- The NYTOA locates three or four tactical teams who are interested in renting the vehicle and also sharing the vehicle (three to four teams are needed in a 75 mile radius of each other).
- Each team will keep the vehicle for 3 or 4 months each year to train with and use on operations.
- Each team will sign a mutual aid agreement with the other teams and must make the vehicle available when needed during a call out.
- Each team will sign a rental agreement with the NYTOA (minimum term of 4 years)
- Each teams cost is approximately $500.00 per month or 6K per year.
- Team must have a NYTOA Team Membership
The following additional assets are available through the program:
The Remington Eye Ball will be distributed to teams in each region throughout the State of New York at no cost. The hosting team must agree to the following:
- Make the unit available to neighboring teams in a 60 mile radius 24/7/365.
- Develop a department policy that outlines the procedure for neighboring teams to follow that will ensure rapid on scene access to the unit should they need it during a call out.
- Allow neighboring teams to train with the unit.
- Be responsible for the maintenance of the unit and repair costs.
